California Dreamin’

So I’m heading back to Cali again this weekend - the northern part of the state this time. I’ve got a 6 a.m. flight on Saturday morning and one of my close friends of high school is getting hitched at 11 a.m. Obviously, I’m crossing my fingers that
a) I don’t oversleep
b) The flight is on time
c) I’m not too hungover from my sure-to-be-fun birthday celebrations on Friday night.

Welcome to the South

A real quick story -
Yesterday, when I flew through Houston, I stopped a Chili’s to dish out $8 for a veggie burger. I asked for the burger and, after a few earnest re-iterations of what I wanted, was pleased when it actually turned out to be, indeed, a veggie burger.

Imagine my surprise, however, when I sat down to eat at my gate. There, piled on top, was bacon (yes, I had requested that be left off too). Apparently, that must not be meat!

I’ve had the pleasure of dining at two seafood restaurants today, which has made my meals a lot more pleasurable. This morning’s grits, ‘fruit’ (all canned fruit in syrup) and greasy eggs, however, wasn’t exactly worth recommending!
