World Cup and the Tour de France

Wednesday, February 15th, 2006

I’ve only been back a week, but I already have my sights on the next trip I’d love to take. I don’t know if I can make it happen, but I’d love to join up with Sean, Chris, Nick and Bob in Berlin, my favorite city in Europe. They’re heading there in July to check out the action happening at this year’s World Cup. I’d like to go for the first ten days of July and then trek down to France in time to watch the mountain stages of the Tour de France on the 12, 13, and 18th of the month. On the 18th, the stage finishes at the epic L’Alpe d’Huez. If I made it that far, why not stick around and volunteer at Ironman Germany? Now would that be a killer trip or what?

Shoot Me Please

Last night, Sean, Ben, Lara and I went to a nice restaurant 40 minutes away with one single purpose: to finish the 3 liter bottle of wine Sean picked up on Tuesday. We did it, and somehow, everyone else ... [Continue reading this entry]

Slaughtering the Christmas Goat

Monday, December 26th, 2005
For those who don’t know, I’m a vegetarian. A lacto-ovo-pesche vegetarian, to be exact (I eat dairy, eggs and seafood, but no red or white meat). However, I prefer to always introduce myself as a tastarian as well ... [Continue reading this entry]

Future of Tourism in Nairobi, Kenya

Monday, December 26th, 2005
In 1998 and 2002, embassy bombings occurred in Nairobi. Although al-Qaeda targeted embassies of western countries, the bombings killed mostly Kenyan citizens. According to people I spoke with from Brogibro Tours, tourism is still suffering. They claimed that the ... [Continue reading this entry]

T minus 5 days: Africa, here I come!

Monday, December 12th, 2005
Like all travel plans, mine have changed since my original post. Abs is no longer coming with me, and it looks like the safari is out (although I'll hopefully grab one in South Africa). Updated itinerary, in too much ... [Continue reading this entry]

After two years of domestic trips, I am finally leaving the country again in December to travel in Africa. If you had told me when I started at BootsnAll that my next overseas destination would be Africa, I wouldn've ... [Continue reading this entry]
