Montenegro…the Newest Independent Country?
Onto the next adventure in about 30 minutes to the coast of Montenegro. I am amazingly unknowing about this newly independent country, with the recent changes and skant information in my LP.
I asked around here and despite living about an hour from the border, people do not bother themselves with the country and have not traveled there. I have closed my eyes and pointed and ended up in Kotor (at least, that is where my ticket is going…slight chance I will move further down the coast this afternoon if it is as dead as it could be).
After that it is onto Albania…the north around the lake, Tirana, and then over to Ohrid in Macedonia and up to Skopje.
I am on my own again. Charlie left last night for a hellish overnight bus to Zagreb and then a long train ride onto Budapest. We had a fantastic time, got along famously and I am sorry to be on my own again. It is a little lonely to stay in pensions and homestays without anyone else. However, I will hopefully meet some cool backpackers.
Thoughts on Dubrovnik…cool city, LOTS of tourists, good place for two days but not more unless you are looking to spend a lot of money on activities.
The weather is (crossing my fingers I do not curse myself) still amazingly fantastic….80 in the sun on 90% of the days. Here is to hoping the weather continues.

Now you’re talkin’
The only things that matter when you travel are the sordid, ‘what-the-fuck?’ things.
Sad but true. Realize it, live it.
