California Dreamin’

Wednesday, August 9th, 2006

So I’m heading back to Cali again this weekend – the northern part of the state this time. I’ve got a 6 a.m. flight on Saturday morning and one of my close friends of high school is getting hitched at 11 a.m. Obviously, I’m crossing my fingers that

White Shoes, Chilled Wines and Frutsticks

Tuesday, May 16th, 2006

Memorial Day is right around the corner, and with it, summer.

Memorial Day always meant it was ‘ok to wear white’ in my family. I usually only possess a pair of white shoes (seeing as how my whites-never-stay-white), but last fall I bought some cool white pants that I may or may not get the courage to wear this summer.

My other traditional favorite thing has been crisp white wines…usually accompanied by a BBQ and friends.

However, today, I have to add something else to my list. That thing is Frutsticks.

Frutsticks are these amazing fruit bars that have only 110 calories – I suggest splurging and getting the chocolate-covered ones that weigh in at 140 calories. I would never believe that it was that ‘healthy’, but both the box (which I double checked) and website said the same thing.

New summer obsession = Frutsicks (note – not fruitstix! The u is supposed to have those little dots above ’em, but I am too lazy to look for that correct display code). I got my chocolate-covered coconut version at Wild Oats – approximately $3 for 4, but oh-so-worth-it.

One of my favorite foodie blogs, Je Mange la Ville, posted an awesome receipe for crab-encrusted fish today. Ever time I look at her blog, I promise myself that I'm going to cook more.  Like me, MLB is ... [Continue reading this entry]
