Weekend in Amsterdam

Sunday, February 5th, 2006

Alli and I have had a great weekend in A-dam. We met at the airport without any hassles and have taken in everything from the Red Light District to the Van Gough Museum. Lots of parting thoughts to share, but as always, not enough time at the moment. I head out tomorrow and am hoping to see my family in Minnesota before returning to Portland. I will have some articles up in a week or two, I hope.

Leaving, on a Jet Plane: Heading to A-dam

Thursday, February 2nd, 2006

I’m heading out in about 45 minutes for the Cape Town airport. I have a 12:45 a.m. flight to look forward to, and am hoping to sleep all the way there (it’s a 12 hour adventure).

Packing has proved to be the most difficult problem, playing the weight vs. space game with my bags. I have been jumping on-and-off the scale for around two hours. Per my usual packing tradition, I am having a drink and listening to music. I plan on ditching one bag the airport so I don’t have to lug it around.

I’m heading to Amsterdam for the second time in three years to visit one of my best friends, Alli (sorry Alli, I linked to the first thing on google under your name). Alli’s been in the UK for almost two years and never gotten further than Shipol airport, so we’re actually venturing into the city. We don’t quite know what we’re going to do yet, but I’m sure we’ll figure something out…I mean, it is Amsterdam after all.

I might not update again until I’m back in the States on Monday night. Have a good weekend!
